Learning and Doing

The Kaléo program emphasizes “learning and doing” by providing students with opportunities to apply their learning on an ongoing basis through camp ministry, church ministry, and missions.

Camp ministry

After taking a course in Camp and Youth Ministry, students help run camp retreats. Serving as camp counselors, in food services, or as activity leaders, students will help make a difference in a camp ministry setting.

Church ministry

While taking a course in Foundations of Church Ministry, students get to serve in a local church all year long. Students may join worship teams, help lead youth groups, or take part in children’s ministry all while growing as active participants in local churches.

Missions

Students have many opportunities to be involved in local outreach events throughout the year. Following a course in Theology of Missions, students will also participate in Vancouver Missionsfest before going on a cross-cultural missions trip.

I enjoyed this foundational year, gaining a new understanding of my faith and developing as a disciple, growing in leadership and being prepared to go out into the world to be a servant that is continually furthering the kingdom.
